How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost?
How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost?
Ask five designers what a website costs and you will get five different answers. That is not because anyone is hiding something. It is because "a website" can mean a one-page site or a full online store. This guide explains what actually moves the price, the costs that show up after launch, and exactly what we charge.
What drives the price
1. How many pages you need. A focused site with your services, reviews, gallery, FAQ and contact details can live on one well-built page. Separate pages for each service, an about page or a blog add design and build time.
2. Features. A contact form is simple. Online booking, payments, a store, customer accounts or integrations with other software take more work.
3. Content. Someone has to write the words and gather the photos. If you supply them, the build is faster. If the designer writes them, that time is part of the price.
4. Custom design versus a template. A lightly edited template is cheaper up front. A design made around your brand and your customers costs more up front and looks less like everyone else.
5. Who builds it. DIY builders cost the least in money and the most in your time. Freelancers and studios charge for their time but handle the design, the build and the technical details for you.
The costs people forget
The build is a one-time cost. A website also has running costs:
- Domain name, renewed every year
- Hosting, so the site stays online
- Security updates and backups
- Edits: new prices, new photos, a new service
- Third-party tools you connect, such as a booking or payment system, which bill separately
You can handle these yourself or pay someone to handle them. Either way, budget for them.

How to compare quotes
When you compare designers, ask the same questions of each:
- How many pages and revision rounds are included?
- Who writes the content?
- What does it cost per month after launch, and what does that include?
- Who owns the domain?
- Can I see the design before I commit?
See yours before you pay
That last question is the one we built our process around. Send us your business name and your current website or Google listing, and we build a working preview of your new site from your real business details. If you like it, choose a package. If not, you owe nothing.
